The mission of Uplifting Athletes is to align college football with rare diseases, such as kidney cancer and histiocytosis. and raise them as a national priority.
Uplifting Athletes network of university chapters brings to life the service programs of Professional Development, Societal Benefit and Public Engagement. Each university chapter is run by current football student-athletes and works to benefit a rare disease that has personal meaning to their team.
Special events (such as the Lift For Life®), fundraising campaigns and awareness drives are all products of their effort.
Uplifting AthletesSM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and operates as a national charter which serves as a uniting force to help change the perception of rare diseases. Their network of university chapters is currently expanding within major NCAA Division 1A football programs to enhance the current football student-athletes’ academic and playing experience with real-world job skills while empowering them to mobilize the college football community to make a difference.
Each chapter partners with a charity that supports one of these rare disease and engages in a grassroots effort to connect millions of passionate and loyal college football fans with people affected by these diseases.
One out of 12 Americans have been diagnosed with a rare disease and typically little can be done because their disease affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. These college football student-athletes believe they are in a position to make a difference.
