Since its founding in 1946, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation has been singularly focused on identifying and encouraging extraordinary young scientists to commit themselves to arresting cancer’s devastating legacy.

The Foundation is dedicated to identifying generations of truly innovative investigators in cancer research — scientists who approach questions from totally new directions, challenge existing dogma, and think “outside the box.”

What makes them unique is that 100% of every direct donation to the Foundation supports their scientific programs.

To date, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation has invested more than $200 million in cancer research, supporting more than 3,000 of the most gifted scientists in the nation.

The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is dedicated to eliminating any barrier to finding cures for cancer. Its award programs are designed to ensure that the nation’s most brilliant scientists have the resources to conduct their vitally important work, in the laboratory and the clinic.

Damon Runyon has a demonstrated record of identifying those young investigators who will go on to make an impact in the field of cancer research. By selecting and supporting exemplary young scientists early in their careers, the Foundation has created an elite corps of the nation’s most talented scientists focused on understanding and eradicating cancer. It is not enough to be smart. To be selected for a Damon Runyon award, our young scientists have demonstrated the capacity for groundbreaking research and a lifelong career of innovation and discovery.

Damon Runyon supports scientists working on all forms of cancer — breast, prostate, colon, lung, leukemia, lymphoma, to name but a few.

For over 50 years, the Foundation has partnered with Broadway theaters to support its important mission. Our service offers the unique opportunity to enjoy the best shows on Broadway while supporting cancer research at the same time.

Damon Runyon was a legendary journalist and sportswriter in the early 20th Century, Runyon is best known for his “Broadway Stories” that were transformed into the smash hit “Guys & Dolls” after his death from cancer in 1946.
