Senator Ted Kennedy dies of brain cancer at age 77

Senator Ted Kennedy died Tuesday night of brain cancer.

The patriarch of  the Kennedy family political dynasty passed away at home in Cape Cod, Mass. He was 77.
He was the only one of the four Kennedy brothers to die a natural death.
His brothers Sen. Robert Kennedy and President John Kennedy were assassinated. His older brother Joe was killed in action during WWII.
During an emotional speech at the Democratic National Convention last year, Ted Kennedy supported presidential candidate Barack Obama and talked about his commitment to realizing healthcare reform.
“This is the cause of my life,” Kennedy said. “The work begins anew. The hope rises again. And the dream lives on.”
He hoped Obama would overhaul U.S. healthcare and insure the roughly 46 million Americans without health insurance
Kennedy also gave the Obamas their first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog.
