by -Julia Bodeeb. The organization Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres sends doctors to some of the most undeveloped regions in the world to help stabilize the country after disasters and provide ongoing medical care. The earthquake of 1/12/2010 destroyed one hospital and caused so much damage to the other two hospitals that they cannot be used due to structural damage.

Paul McPhun of Doctors Without Borders told NPR that the organization is now providing medical care outside in tents. He added “Without functioning hospitals, it’s not possible to provide the surgical care that people need. The best we can offer now is first aid care and stabilization.”
